DeSeignora Honored With Honan Sportsmanship Award
Nashua, N.H.
-- The Daniel Webster College Department of Athletics today announced that
senior women’s basketball player Briana DeSeignora of Medfield, Mass. was
recently chosen as the recipient of the 2008 Massachusetts State
Representative Kevin G. Honan Sportsmanship Award.
The award, which is sponsored by Johnson & Papakyrikos CPA and Financial
Planners of Boston, Mass., honors a student-athlete who demonstrates one or
more of the ideals of sportsmanship, including fairness, civility, honesty,
unselfishness, respect and responsibility. The recipient is chosen by
officials from the Honan Women’s Basketball League based in the Brighton,
Mass. area.
“We are extremely proud of Briana’s honor,” said Eagles women’s basketball
coach Heather Jacobs. “The Honan League is a showcase for some of the very
best collegiate women’s basketball during the summer months and Briana’s
selection for this award is a great tribute to her character. She is an
outstanding role model among her peers.”
DeSeignora is a three-year letter winner with the Eagles program who
averaged 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last season.
The Honan League celebrates its 21st season in 2008 with 28 teams and 300
participants.
