Hanson named NECC, ECAC New England Player of the Week, Harris Earns NECC Rookie Of The Week

The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced Monday that Daniel
Webster College men’s basketball player Chris Hanson of Salem, Mass. has
been named Conference Player of the Week and William Kemp Harris of
Suitland, Md. has been named Rookie of the Week.
Hanson, a sophomore guard, averaged 16.7 points and 4.7 rebounds while
shooting 58-percent (18-31) from the field and 60-percent from the
three-point line (12-20) over a three game span. He was named the most
valuable player of the annual Inn at Middletown Tournament, hosted by
Wesleyan (Conn.) University, guiding the Eagles to the championship, the
first in-season tournament title in program history.
After notching nine points and four rebounds in a loss at Harvard University
on December 28th, Hanson followed with 14 points including five three
pointers and added four rebounds and two steals in the tournament’s open
round, a 78-57 victory over Anna Maria College on January 2nd.
Hanson saved his best performance for the title game against Wesleyan on
January 3rd, knocking down a game high 27 points including seven
three-pointers and six rebounds as the Eagles prevailed, 69-62.
Harris averaged 7.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists over the same
three-game span, shooting 73-percent from the field (8-11) and 54-percent
from the free throw line (7-13).
Harris notched 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks in the
victory over Anna Maria and added seven points, six rebounds, three assists
and two steals in the championship against Wesleyan.
Under the leadership of head coach Dave Faucher, the Eagles stand 5-4
overall and return to action on Thursday, January 8th when they visit
Eastern Nazarene College at 6:00 p.m.
