Cambridge, Mass. - The Lesley University men’s basketball hosted Daniel Webster College on Saturday evening and were unable to slow down the Eagles attack as the Lynx were defeated 84-58. Daniel Webster shot an impressive 60.7% from beyond the three-point line and improved to 13-8 (7-4 NECC) while Lesley dropped to 4-18 (1-10 NECC).

The win also kept the Eagles two games ahead of Wheelock for third place in the league standings and a game behind Becker for second place with three games remaining. The Eagles can sew up a home quarterfinal game with a win over Wheelock Tuesday and continue to hold an outside chance for a first round bye should they surpass Becker over the final week and a half.

The Lynx were led in scoring by Matt Grassa (Everett, Mass.) Dana Datillo (Derry, N.H.) and Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) who tallied 15, 12, and 12 points, respectively. Datillo was effective from long range as the senior captain hit 3-of-5 three-pointers. Trejo completed yet another double-double on the season with 11 rebounds on the game.

For the Eagles, Brian Inge (Fort Washington, Md.), Chris Voukides (Salem, N.H.) and Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) combined to make 17 three-pointers as Daniel Webster as a team shot 60.7% from long range.

Inge led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-15 from the floor including six three balls. Voukides was perfect from the field, hitting all five three-point attempts and also chipped in with four assists.

Hanson recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

Daniel Webster held an early nine point advantage in the first half, but Lesley went on a 12-3 run to take their only lead of the game. The Eagles rebounded with a 12-4 run of their own and took a seven point lead at halftime.

The second half belonged to the Eagles as Daniel Webster continued their long range assault on the Lynx. The visitors went on a 15-4 run in the beginning of the first half and stretched out their lead to as large as 29 points in the period.

Lesley will be back in action as they host Mitchell College on February 17 at 8:00 pm for Senior Night. Daniel Webster hosts Wheelock College on the same night for a 7:00 pm game.
