Eagles Bury Lynx 90-59, Tie Program Season Wins Record

Nashua
- Sophomore Chris Hanson (Salem, Mass.) buried seven three pointers – one short of the program record – on the way to a game high 29 points and senior Brian Inge (Ft. Washington, Md.) added 24 points leading the Daniel Webster College men’s basketball team past Lesley University, 90-59 in a NECC matchup and the regular season finale for both clubs Saturday at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Hanson finished 10 of 15 from the field while Inge went 7 of 7 from the line as the Eagles (16-8, 10-4) tied the all time program record for victories in a season, matching the 1997-98 team that went 16-10.

Senior Tim Jackson (West Henrietta, N.Y.) chipped in with 15 points and a game high six assists and four steals, while Steve Savage (Salem, N.H.) added 10 rebounds, four assists and three points.

The Eagles, who finished the regular season winners of four straight and seven of their final nine, will likely host a NECC quarterfinal game Tuesday night at Vagge Gymnasium. Pairings will be announced by the NECC office Sunday.

Nijel Robinson (Plainsboro, N.J.) led Lesley (5-20, 2-12 NECC) with 19 points, while senior Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) added 17 with four blocks, and Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) added a double double of 14 points and 10 boards.

The Eagles, who shot 63-percent in the second half, were aided by 22 Lynx turnovers on the afternoon leading to 32 points, and finished with a 39-28 advantage on the boards including a 16-9 edge on the offensive glass.

Lesley led by seven early (13-6), but a Savage layup jump started a 19-6 run that consumed over seven and a half minutes including a Hanson jumper that tied it and a three that gave the Eagles the lead for good at 22-19 with 8:43 to go in the half. DWC led 37-28 at the break.

The Eagles took control with a 12-1 run to start the second keyed by five points from Hanson and a layup from Joel Prince (Woodbridge, Va.), who finished with four points, and the Lynx would pull no closer than 15 the rest of the way.
