Hanson Earns Third NECC Player Of The Week Award
Nashua
- For the third time this season, the New England Collegiate Conference
(NECC) has announced that Daniel Webster College men’s basketball player
Chris Hanson of Salem, Mass. has been named Conference Player of the Week.
Hanson, a sophomore guard, averaged 22.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and shot
54-percent (23-42) from the field including 48-percent (16-33) from the
three-point line in helping the Eagles to a 3-0 record last week.
Hanson also earned the honor on January 7th and January 13th and was named
ECAC Division III New England Player of the Week January 7th.
Hanson opened the week with 15 points and four rebounds in a 70-63 win over
Wheelock College on February 17th.
He followed with 24 points, going 8 of 12 from the field including 6 of 10
from the three-point line, and added three rebounds and two blocks in an
85-70 win at Newbury College on February 19th.
Hanson saved his best for last, knocking down a game high and tying his
season high with 29 points, going 10 of 15 from the field and 7 of 12 from
beyond the arc as the Eagles best Lesley University, 90-59. He added four
more rebounds and two steals and his seven treys fell one short of tying the
program all time in-game record.
Hanson has played in all 24 Eagle contests and is averaging a team best 18.7
points per game, good for fourth among NECC leaders. He is adding 4.7
rebounds and is shooting 50-percent from the field including 45-percent from
the three-point line.
Under the leadership of head coach Dave Faucher, the Eagles posted a 16-8
regular season record and went 10-4 in NECC play, finishing in third place.
The 16 victories tied the program’s all time season wins record as the
Eagles will finish with a winning record for the first time in 11 years.
The Eagles are the third seed for the inaugural NECC championship
tournament and host sixth seeded Newbury Tuesday night in a quarterfinal
matchup tipping off at 8:00 p.m.
