Rieger, Wilson Sweep NECC Weekly Honors For Eagles

 

(Nashua, N.H.) - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced Tuesday that Daniel Webster College women’s volleyball players Kristina Rieger of Concord, N.H. and Amanda Wilson of Merrimack, N.H. have been named Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Rieger, a junior middle blocker, and Wilson, a freshman outside hitter, helped guide the Eagles to a 2-1 mark last week.

Rieger hit .329 averaging 3.00 kills, 1.16 aces, 1.25 digs and 1.00 blocks per set. She opened the week with five kills and five aces in a 3-0 victory at Lyndon State College on September 30th. She followed with 13 kills, three aces, nine digs, eight total blocks including six solo, and hit .355 in a 3-2 loss to Lesley University. She finished with a match-high 18 kills, added six aces, six blocks, four blocks and hit .351 in a 3-1 victory over Becker College on October 4th.

Wilson earned her second Rookie of the Week honor this season after averaging 2.13 kill and 1.46 digs per set. She opened the week with six kills, two digs and an ace, hitting .333 at Lyndon State. She followed with a double double of 11 kills and 10 digs and added an ace and hit .370 against Lesley. She finished the week with another double double of 15 kills and 10 digs and added one ace against Becker.

Under the leadership of head coach Braden Zamore, the Eagles are off to the best start in program history at 8-4 overall. The team returns to action on Saturday, October 11th when they travel to Becker College for a regional tri-match. The Eagles face Becker at Noon and Regis College at 2:00 p.m.
