Rieger, Wilson Sweep NECC Honors Again
(Nashua, N.H.) - For the second straight week, the Daniel Webster College
women’s volleyball team has swept the individual weekly awards from the New
England Collegiate Conference (NECC) as Kristina Rieger of Concord, N.H. and
Amanda Wilson of Merrimack, N.H. have been named NECC Player and Rookie of
the Week, respectively.
Rieger, a junior middle blocker, played in all three matches last week
registering a .425 attack percentage, averaging 2.33 kills per set and 1.22
digs per set. She opened the week hitting .333 with six kills and one error
on 15 attempts and added four digs and three blocks in a 3-0 loss at Mount
Ida October 7th.
Rieger followed with an errorless six-kill on 13 attempt outing and added
seven digs, two aces and two blocks in a 3-0 setback to Regis College
October 13th. She closed her week the same day with an eye-catching nine
kills on 19 attempts with no errors to hit .474, and added three aces and a
block in a 3-0 victory over Becker College.
Wilson, a freshman outside hitter, earned her third Rookie of the Week award
this season after hitting .200 while averaging 1.67 kills and 1.33 digs and
service aces per set.
Wilson tallied four kills with no errors on 12 attempts and added four aces
and seven digs in the loss to Mount Ida. She followed with nine kills, two
aces, and four digs against Regis and closed the week with two kills, six
aces, and a dig in the victory over Becker.
Under the leadership of first year head coach Braden Zamore, the Eagles tied
the all time program record for wins in a season with their ninth in the
victory over Becker. The team stands 10-5 overall after a Tuesday night win
over Pine Manor College and returns to action Thursday night when they
travel to Wentworth Institute of Technology for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
