Eagles Sweep NECC Weekly Awards For Second Straight Week

Nashua - For the second
consecutive week, the Daniel Webster College women’s volleyball team has
swept the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly awards.
Senior middle block Kristina Rieger of Concord, N.H. and freshman Chelsey
Crawford of Westfield, Mass. have been named Player and Rookie of the Week,
respectively by the NECC office after guiding the Eagles to a 3-1 record
last week including a 2-0 mark in NECC play.
Rieger averaged 2.21 kills per
game over a 14 games and hit .244 overall (31 k, 9 e, 90 att) and added
eight serving aces, a team best 30 digs (2.14 pg) and chipped in with four
total blocks.
Rieger opened the week with six
kills and hit .208 adding 12 digs and two blocks in a 3-1 loss at Mount Ida
College on October 6th. She followed with 11 kills, hit .150, and added 12
more kills with one ace in a 3-2 road victory over Saint Joseph’s College of
Maine on October 8th.
Rieger closed the week with an 11-kill, four-ace, four dig effort in a 3-0
sweep of Mitchell College and finished with a three-kill, two dig effort in
a NECC sweep of Southern Vermont College as part of a NECC tri-match on
October 10th.
On the season, Rieger is averaging 1.66 kills per game and is hitting .218
overall (68 k, 25 e, 197 att) with a team high 40 aces and is adding 97 digs
(2.37 pg) and 13 total blocks.

For Crawford, her award marks
the fourth straight week she has been honored by the NECC, as she was named
Player of the Week last week, preceded by two straight Rookie of the Week
awards.
Crawford led the Eagles with 2.53 kills per game over 15 games, hit .258
overall (38 k, 13 e, 97 att) and added six service aces, 22 digs (1.47 pg)
and added 12 total blocks.
She opened her week with a match high 11 kills and hit .212 along with two
aces, eight digs and six block in the loss to Mount Ida, and followed with
another match high of 15 kills, hit .361, and added 10 digs and four blocks
in the victory over Saint Joseph’s of Maine.
Crawford closed the week with seven kills, three aces, two blocks and two
digs in the victory over Mitchell and a match high five kills along with two
digs in the win over Southern Vermont.
On the year, Crawford leads the Eagles in total kills (106), kills per game
(2.52), hitting percentage (.279) and total blocks (33). She has added 19
aces and 43 digs.
Under the guidance of second year Head Coach Braden Zamore, the Eagles stand
8-4 overall (4-0 NECC) and return to action on Tuesday, October 13th as they
host Johnson State College in a regional matchup tipping off at 7:00 p.m.
