West Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore guard Vanessa Bosques (N. Windham, Conn.) had a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds to lead Daniel Webster over Saint Joseph College 75-64 in a non-conference game Monday at the O’Connell Center giving the Eagles their first 3-0 start in program history.

Daniel Webster outrebounded the Blue Jays 54-30 and had a 44-24 advantage in points in the paint.

Junior guard Ilaria Schiano (Wallingford, Conn.) led Saint Joseph (3-2) with 22 points, including five three-pointers and seven assists. Freshman forward Hayley Torres made eight of 13 field goals and had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Saint Joseph had its largest lead of the game with 8:57 to play in the first half at 30-23 after a Torres layup.

A free throw by Daniel Webster’s Alycia Gervais (Windham, Conn.) with 47 seconds left in the half allowed the Eagles to lead 32-32 at halftime.

Saint Joseph then rallied from a 10-point deficit early in the second half to lead for a two-minute stretch midway through the half, but Daniel Webster took the lead for good at 56-53 on a Bosques three-pointer with 9:11 remaining.

Gervais (11 rebounds) and Joyce Chagan (Boothbay Harbor, Maine) each scored 16 points for Daniel Webster.
