Morrisville Holds Off Eagles, 3-2

Megan Siebold (Hamilton Square, N.J.) notched a goal and assist and Jessica Squire added the eventual game winner midway through the second half as visiting Morrisville State (NY) tipped Daniel Webster in a non-conference soccer match up, 3-2 Sunday afternoon.

Sharma Wing (Windham, Maine) registered both Eagle scores as DWC dropped to 1-2-1 overall.

Siebold put the Mustangs (1-2) up 1-0 with 41 seconds left in the first half with a 20-yard boot that caught the right corner of the net.

Tifinie Cole (Red Creek, N.Y.) extended the lead to 2-0 in the 51st minute off a give and go pass play from Siebold.

Wing cut the lead to 2-1 4:55 later converting on a partial break away. The teams then traded quick scores. Squire put Morrisville back ahead by two with an unassisted tally at the 65:41 mark but Wing followed with another unassisted score 14 seconds later.

The Eagles were hampered throughout much of the game being forced to play a man down due to a red card in the 36th minute.

The Mustangs finished with a 22-16 shots advantage. Jessica Yates (North Rose, N.Y.) made 11 stops for Morrisville, while Kendra DeVore (Parsonsfield, Maine) made 13 saves for the Eagles.

DWC is off until Thursday when they travel to Becker College for a 4:00 p.m. match up.
