Wheelock Edges Eagles In Record Time, 1-0
Jenna Wass’s (Auburn, Mass.) free kick from 35 yards out
in the 27th proved to be the eventual game winner as Wheelock edged host
Daniel Webster, 1-0 in women’s soccer Thursday.
Tight defense was the order of the day as the two teams played one of the
fastest contests in recent memory, finishing in just 1:37. The squads
combined for just 13 total shots, three corner kicks and no offsides.
The Wildcats (5-7), who halted a two game skid, outshot the Eagles (4-5-1)
10-3 overall including a 5-2 shots on goal advantage.
Alyce Jordan (Weymouth, Mass.) made two saves for Wheelock, while Kendra
DeVore (Parsonsfield, Maine) finished with four saves for the Eagles.
The Eagles host the Suffolk club squad Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in their home
season finale. They travel to Pine Manor Monday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
