Eagles Get Bitten By Gators, 6-2

Erin Hurd (Centerville, Mass.) notched two goals for Daniel Webster but it wasn't enough as Pine Manor toppled the Eagles, 6-2 in a meeting of future GNAC rivals Monday.

Stephanie Ludwig scored four goals as the host Gators (1-11) scored their first victory of the season, scoring the final five goals of the game in dropping the Eagles to 5-6-1 overall.

Hurd put the Eagles ahead 3:19 into the game off a Sarah Shea (Quincy, Mass.) feed. Ludwig answered exactly four minutes later at the 7:19 mark for a 1-1 tie. Hurd responded 47 seconds later off a Rachel Schelhorn (Lebanon, Conn.) feed for a 2-1 lead but Ludwig again answered at the 20:03 mark. Angeline Capre put the hosts ahead for good with 1:23 to go in the half for a 3-2 lead at the break.

An own goal made it 4-2 at 53:14 and Ludwig notched the hat trick 47 seconds later for a 5-2 advantage. Ludwig closed out the scoring at the 73:08 mark for the 6-2 final.

Pine Manor finished with a 22-10 shots advantage. Rose Chapman and Sarah Mason combined for nine saves, while Chrystal Colon had fives saves for Pine Manor.

The Eagles close out the regular season Saturday at Fitchburg State at 1:00 p.m.
