Wing Leads National in Goals and Points Average, Schelhorn 10th in Assists
Freshman soccer standout Sharma Wing is the NCAA Division III leader in both
points per game and goals per game average according to this week’s national
statistics released by the NCAA office.
Wing’s 19 goals and four assists account for 42 points in her nine NCAA
sanctioned games played thus far. Those 19 goals account for an 2.11 goals
per game average, easily outdistancing Katherine Gentsch of Mt. St. Vincent
College, who sports season totals 12 goals in seven games for a 1.71
average.
Wing’s 42 points, or 4.67 points per game, is 44 points better than Carissa
Landolt of Dubuque College, who sports a mark of 22 goals, 11 assists for 55
points in 13 games, a 4.23 points per game average.
Fellow freshman forward standout Rachel Schelhorn (Lebanon, Conn.) is also
among the national leader board for assists per game average.
Schelhorn has
notched season totals of three goals, seven assists for 13 points. Her seven
assists, or a 0.78 average per game, places her 10th nationally.
