Championship: Lesley 3, Mount St. Mary's 1
In the title game, tournament Offensive MVP Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.)
notched two goals 44 seconds apart and Kate Stickles (Newtown, Conn.) added
another 58 seconds later to pace Lesley past Mount St. Mary’s to win the
tourney title.
Fralick buried a low shot 15:16 into the contest to put the Lynx (2-0)
ahead, and followed by converting a penalty kick at the 16-minute mark.
Stickles followed at 16:58, knocking in an Alyson Durban corner kick. The
three quick strikes would prove to be more than enough as the Lesley defense
tightened and held the Blue Knights (1-1) scoreless until the final five
minutes of the match.
Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) made six stops in goal for Lesley, while Megan
Cotta (Point Pleasant, N.J.) made five stops for Mount St. Mary’s.
Kristen Maggio (Smithtown, N.Y.) broke up Lowe’s shutout bid with an
unassisted tally with 3:37 to play.
Along with Fralick’s offensive award, Blue Knight Kristen Piatkowski
(Madison, N.J.) was named Defensive MVP.
