Johnson & Wales Shuts Out Eagles, 4-0

East Providence, R.I. – The Johnson & Wales women’s soccer team posted a 4-0 shutout victory against Daniel Webster in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest at Pierce Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Melissa Kmon (Coventry, R.I.) put the Wildcats ahead early when she put in a rebounded shot at the 5:39 mark to give the Wildcats the 1-0 advantage. Freshman Angela Cazzato (Rensselear, N.Y.) put JWU ahead 2-0 at the 37:49 mark when she blasted in a shot from 20 yards out. The Wildcats took the 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 3-0 on a goal by freshman Jennifer Hurley (Freeport, N.Y.) at the 61:36 mark. Cazzato then capped off the scoring for the afternoon at 65:39 as JWU cruised to the 4-0 victory.

JWU sophomore Kate Nast (Quakertown, Pa.) had six stops in the shutout victory for the Wildcats while sophomore Kendra DeVore (Parsonsfield, Maine) had four saves in the setback for the Eagles.

Johnson & Wales is now 2-11 on the year and 2-6 in the GNAC while Daniel Webster falls to 1-9, 0-7 in league play.
