Eagles Fall In Season Finale to Lesley, 4-1

Nashua -- Ashley Lambert (Salem, Mass.) registered a goal and assist while Jess Wainwright (Marlborough, Mass.) added two assists leading Lasell past host Daniel Webster, 4-1 in the Eagles’ season finale Tuesday afternoon.

The loss finished the Eagles season at 2-14 overall (1-12) in their final game as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Eagles will join the newly formed nine-member New England Collegiate Conference next season.

Lasell improved to 10-6 overall (7-5 GNAC) with the victory.

Kristy Novotny (Easthampton, Mass.) put the Eagles ahead 1-0 with an unassisted strike at the 39:40 mark, knocking in a 20 foot shot to the top right corner as DWC led 1-0 at the break.

Alyssa Ferreri (Southbury, Conn.) tied it tapping home a Lambert corner kick 7:09 into the second, and Allyson Bushey (Westminster, Mass.) put the Lasers ahead for good 1:06 later with a 25 yarder that just caught the corner of the net.

After an Eagles own goal in the 76th off a defection of a Lambert shot, Lambert closed out the scoring 1:04 later, hooking a low shot to the left corner off a Wainwright feed.

Courtney Brothers (Woburn, Maine) finished with non saves in facing one shot, while Kendra DeVore (Parsonsfield, Maine) made eight saves for the Eagles.

Daniel Webster loses just one outgoing senior in midfielder and sweeper Sara Hunt (San Jose, Cal.), who served as the team’s sole captain this past season.

Lasell closes its regular season hosting Regis Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
